The production of pottery is one of the most ancient arts. The oldest known body of pottery dates from the Jomon period (from about 10,500 to 400 BC) in Japan; and even the earliest Jomon ceramics exhibit a unique sophistication of technique and design. This Neo-Ancient vase uses the profiles from the uncovered objects of ancient civilisations. The vessels were each picked specifically from different civilisations. The profiles were then digitally arranged 3 dimensionally around a central point to create several spines in which a skin was then wrapped around using CAD software.
This anti-static approach is divergent from that of the original objects. Where the they were created to be highly functional with aesthetics and form also being strongly emphasised, now the emphases is purely on a process which therefor determines the objects form and functionality.
